Lions game 4

Blog

A case of 2 steps forward and 1 step back for the Lions, but still getting better in some aspects of their game.

Far to many soft penalties given away and the discipline they had against Crusaders was missing, perhaps we now know that the majority of the starting 15 have been assigned to the midweek squad hence a dip in the intensity.

Tries scored by Seymour & Joseph & Warburton brought the Lions tally to 5 but they’ve leaked 6 which on both counts is a worry. Lions showed some attacking flare and weren’t as narrow as in previous games.

Warburton was excellent and probably cemented his starting place in the test side, Henderson had his best game so far on this tour, Webb & Biggar worked well together, CJ had a good second half but the penalties he gave away cost the Lions.

Sinckler did well too, but the remaining starters won’t be involved in the test on Saturday week but no doubt play against the Chiefs in game 6.

My starting 15 for the Maori game 1-15:

Vunipola, George, Furlong, AWJ, Kruis, O Mahony, O Brien, Faletau, Murray, Sexton, Williams, Te’o Davies, North, Halfpenny.
