Lions game 3

Blog

A much improved game for the Lions, I thought the front 5 were superb, which could well be the starting 5 for the first test. AWJ, George Kruis, Peter O Mahony & Toby Faletau were excellent, with Conor Murray bossing the game at 9 Owen Farrell Johhny Sexton did very well working together.

The question of where tries or lack of raised it’s head again, 2 tries in 3 games is woeful, I genuinely can’t see where tries are going to come from, the creativeness required to beat the All Blacks defence is not on show, with 3 games to the opening test it’s a worry, they can’t beat the All Blacks by relying on penalties alone. The Lions defence was very good as was the line speed which will only get better in the coming weeks.

My 15 V Highlanders 1-15:

Marler, Best, Sinckler, Itoje, Henderson, Moriarty, Warburton, Stander, Webb, Biggar, Daly, Henshaw, Payne, Seymour, Halfpenny.

Not the strongest side available, but NZ Maoris await next Saturday where a seriously strong side is required.
