Pro 12 Final

Blog

I’m glad that’s over, Munster saved their worst performance of the season for last, I genuinely can’t understand how they continuously kicked away any ball they had giving Scarlets momentum rather than trying to build phases.

Stats don’t lie, Munster had the majority of the possession on Saturday and in the semi final against Saracens, yet lost both, yes they won 19 of 22 games compared to only 13 of 22 last season, which is a positive, but there’s something not right with the coaching,  when they can’t or are unable to address this during a game or in training. Munster have come predictable this season, kicking the ball to the opposition and relying on a defence is not the way modern rugby is played, Munster can get away with bullying their way through weaker sides, overpowering and breaking them down, Erasmus should look at the way Scarlets and the other sides at the top table played this season, from rucks 2 forwards running off 10 creating fast ball to speedy wings that can score tries it’s simple rugby. Munster also lack leadership at 10, Bleyendaal needs to step up in the big games. In a way i’m glad Saili has left, his defence all season has been terrible. Creative centres are need, Taute or Scannell aren’t in the mould of a Mafi or Tipoki.

It’s time to start a new game plan keeping possessing, building phases, releasing the speedy wingers Munster have, otherwise it’s going to be another season without a trophy.
